WHAT'S WRONG WITH GRANDMA?

A Family's Experience with Alzheimer's

Margaret Shawver

Illustrated by Jeffrey K. Bagby

Every day, children of all ages are forced to confront the reality that a family member has Alzheimer's Disease. With so many "adult" discussions going on, a child sometimes feels left out and confused.

What's Wrong with Grandma? speaks to the children trying to cope with an elder who's acting very strange. Someone they love dearly has changed, not all at once-like in an accident or a sudden illness-but in little pieces, slowly and over a period of time.

Shawver wrote What 's Wrong with Grandma? in the hope that bringing this story out to the children who suffer in silence will, in some small way, assist them in coping with this devastating illness.
